Brushbuddy

About Brushbuddy

Brushbuddy is the atelier's pet, a small, fluffy white creature called a Fudemushi, or brushbug, that feeds on leftover magical ink. Mostly silent apart from the occasional squeak, it trails after the apprentices, cleans up their spills and provides the atelier's softest moments. Every witch workshop, it turns out, needs a companion like Brushbuddy.

Appearance

Brushbuddy is tiny and round, covered in soft white fluff like a living powder puff, with small dark eyes peeking out of the fur. It looks less like an animal and more like a brush that came to life, which, for a creature that lives on magical ink in a witch's workshop, is exactly right.

Personality

Brushbuddy has no dialogue beyond squeaks, but plenty of character: it trails after the apprentices, investigates every spill, and appears wherever the atelier needs a moment of uncomplicated comfort. It is affectionate without demands, the workshop's living reminder that not everything in the witch world is law, danger or secrets.

Background & Story

Brushbuddy is a Fudemushi, a brushbug, a small creature that feeds on leftover magical ink. It lives at Qifrey's atelier, cleaning up the apprentices' spills by eating them and keeping company with the girls as they study. In a house full of secrets, rivalries and watching knights, Brushbuddy is the one resident with no agenda at all, and the apprentices treat it accordingly: as family.

Key Relationships

• Coco: One of the apprentices Brushbuddy trails after, cleaning up her ink spills and keeping her company.
• Qifrey: The atelier's master, whose workshop Brushbuddy calls home.
• Tetia: A fellow resident of the atelier, and the apprentice most likely to be delighted by a fluffy companion at any moment.
