Vegeta
From Dragon Ball Super
Vegeta is a main character of Dragon Ball Super, the proud prince of the Saiyans, now Earth's defender and Goku's eternal rival. In the age of gods he trains under Whis, chasing divine power his own way. He is voiced by Ryō Horikawa in Japanese and Christopher Sabat in English.
About Vegeta
Vegeta is the proud prince of the Saiyans, once a ruthless invader who came to Earth hunting the Dragon Balls. Defeat, family and years beside Goku slowly turned his pride into something protective, though he would never say so. In the Beerus era he trains under Whis alongside his rival, chasing godly power his own way and refusing, as always, to accept second place quietly.
Appearance
Vegeta is a compact, powerfully built man, shorter than Goku, with black hair standing in a flame-like crest and a pronounced widow's peak. He wears Saiyan battle armour in his early Super years, later a sleeker grey-and-white suit, usually with white gloves and a scowl that is practically a signature. When he powers up, the changes write his progress across the saga: gold, then the blue of a god, then the violet depths of his own Ultra Ego.
Personality
Vegeta's pride is his wound, his engine and his redemption all at once. He arrived on Earth a genocidal prince; decades of defeat, family and Goku's impossible example reforged that pride into something protective. He just refuses to say so out loud. Super's Vegeta is a man of fierce, private growth: he kneels to Beerus to protect his family, trains under a god's servant without complaint, and thinks about the Saiyans' sins in a way the young prince never could. He will still tell you he is nobody's second, and then fight like the universe's first line of defence.
Background & Story
Vegeta was born heir to Planet Vegeta, a prodigy prince whose planet and people were annihilated by Frieza while he served in the tyrant's army as a child soldier. Sent to Earth for its Dragon Balls, he was defeated by Goku, the low-class nobody whose superiority became his obsession. Years of humiliation, alliance and uneasy peace on Earth followed: Vegeta built a family with Bulma, fought every invasion beside his former enemies, and accepted, in the Buu crisis, that Goku was the better man, the confession that freed him. Dragon Ball Super opens with the prince at peace and restless inside it, until a God of Destruction's visit, and a wife's slap answered by divine rage, pulls him back to the frontier of power.
Powers & Abilities
- Galick Gun and Final Flash: Vegeta's signature beams: the Galick Gun, his planet-threatening purple wave, and the Final Flash, a fully charged blast that once terrified even Cell.
- Big Bang Attack: A compact sphere of ki fired from one palm that detonates with enormous force, Vegeta's efficient answer to Kamehameha theatre.
- Super Saiyan Blue and Blue Evolved: Vegeta masters god ki to reach Super Saiyan Blue, then breaks its limits into the deeper, darker Blue Evolved through sheer refusal to fall behind.
- Ultra Ego: Trained by Beerus in the ways of destruction, Vegeta's own divine form grows stronger the more damage he takes, pride converted directly into power.
- Forced Spirit Fission: Learned on Yardrat, Vegeta can tear apart fused, absorbed or gathered energy, undoing enemies built on stolen power.
Key Relationships
- Son Goku: His rival for life, the low-born Saiyan whose back Vegeta has chased for decades and whose side he now never leaves.
- Bulma: His wife, the one person whose temper Vegeta fears, and the anchor of the Earth life he would die to protect.
- Trunks and Future Trunks: His sons, the boy he is learning to father, and the future son whose ruined world taught Vegeta what family costs.
- Beerus: The god who humiliated and then mentored him, Vegeta's path to Ultra Ego runs through Beerus' brutal honesty.
- Frieza: The tyrant who enslaved his childhood and destroyed his people, Vegeta's hatred of him outlasts death itself.

The two trade the lead constantly, that is the point of their rivalry. Goku reaches new forms first more often, but Vegeta repeatedly closes the gap and sometimes passes him, as with Ultra Ego, his own divine path that Goku cannot use. Neither accepts second place, which is why both keep growing.
