Hit

Hit

From Dragon Ball Super

Quick Answer

Hit is a supporting character in Dragon Ball Super, the legendary assassin of Universe 6, feared for a thousand years because his targets never see him strike. His Time Skip makes him the ace of Universe 6's tournament team. He is voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji in Japanese and Matthew Mercer in English.

About Hit

Hit is the legendary assassin of Universe 6, a professional feared for a thousand years because his targets never see him strike. His Time Skip lets him jump a fraction of a second ahead, making his blows hard to guard. Chosen for Champa's team in the Tournament of Destroyers, Hit faces Goku with a craftsman's pride, and their fight pushes the men past their limits.

Appearance

Hit is a tall, lean humanoid with purple skin, a smooth, elongated head, red eyes and a permanently calm expression. He wears a long dark coat with a high collar over a form-fitting suit, hands usually buried in his pockets, even mid-fight, since his strikes need almost no movement. Nothing about Hit hurries; the stillness itself is the threat, because the blow has usually already landed.

Personality

Hit is a professional to the core: quiet, honourable within his code, and interested in exactly one thing besides his work, a worthy opponent. A thousand years of one-sided assassinations left him bored; meeting Goku, the first target who adapts to his technique in real time, wakes something in him that looks almost like joy. Hit fights with a craftsman's pride, improves his technique mid-battle as a matter of honour, and keeps his word even to employers he despises. The universe's deadliest killer turns out to be one of its most principled men.

Background & Story

Hit has lived and worked as Universe 6's legendary assassin for over a thousand years, never failing an assignment, his Time Skip making him untouchable. The God of Destruction Champa drafted him as the final fighter of Universe 6's team in the Tournament of Destroyers against Beerus' Universe 7, where Hit dismantled Vegeta and then met Goku, whose Super Saiyan Blue and Kaio-ken forced Hit to do something a millennium of murder never had: improve. Their rivalry carried into the Tournament of Power, where Hit led Universe 6's team and fell to Jiren covering his teammates, an assassin dying, professionally and without complaint, for other people.

Powers & Abilities

  • Time Skip: Hit jumps a tenth of a second into the future, later far longer, striking from inside the skipped time where no defence exists yet.
  • Time Cage and stored time: Hit stores the time he skips and builds techniques from it: trapping a target frozen in a cage of time, and phasing into a pocket dimension to strike unseen.
  • Vital-point strikes: A millennium of assassination refined into invisible, single blows aimed at vital points, delivered from a stance with his hands in his pockets.
  • Pure Progress: Hit improves his techniques during battle itself, extending his Time Skip and inventing counters on the spot, the ability that even Goku's growth struggled to outpace.

Key Relationships

  • Son Goku: The target who became his rival, Goku once hired Hit to assassinate himself, just to fight him at full strength.
  • Champa: Universe 6's God of Destruction and his employer in the tournaments, Hit obeys him with visible, professional patience.
  • Vegeta: His first tournament victim, dismantled in moments, the defeat that taught Universe 7 what Hit was.
  • Cabba and Caulifla: His Universe 6 teammates in the Tournament of Power, Hit covered their escape against Jiren without being asked.
  • Jiren: The wall Hit could not pass, his elimination, buying time for his universe, is the assassin's finest hour.
