About Satoru Fujinuma
Satoru Fujinuma is a 29-year-old struggling manga artist delivering pizzas in 2006, gifted, or cursed, with Revival, an ability that throws him back minutes before a tragedy so he can prevent it. When his mother is murdered and he is framed, Revival hurls him back eighteen years into his childhood body. To save everyone, he must solve the case he once survived.
Appearance
Adult Satoru is a man of 29, 169 cm tall, with messy black hair reaching toward his chin and dark blue eyes, usually in the plain clothes of a delivery worker. His younger self is a ten-year-old Hokkaido schoolboy in winter clothes, small for the weight he carries: an adult's memories, and a list of children he has sworn will not die this time.
Personality
Satoru is quiet, withdrawn and harder on himself than anyone, a man who plays a 'hero of justice' in his own head while insisting he is nobody. His defining trait is that he cannot walk past a person in danger: Revival drags him back, but his own conscience would send him anyway. In 1988, forced to actually befriend the children he once drifted past, the distant adult becomes braver, warmer and more honest than the man he grew into.
Background & Story
Satoru Fujinuma grew up in a Hokkaido town, raised alone by his mother Sachiko after his father left. In 2006 he is a failed manga artist delivering pizzas, experiencing Revival, sudden jumps of a few minutes back in time, always just before something terrible happens, which he has learned to scan for and quietly undo. When his mother, visiting him, notices something about an old kidnapping case from his childhood, she is murdered, and Satoru is framed for it. Cornered by police, he Revives further than ever before: to 1988, into his ten-year-old body, weeks before his classmate Kayo Hinazuki vanished. Satoru understands the assignment his power has given him, save Kayo, save the other children, and the future, including his mother, may be saved with them.
