Gaku Yashiro

About Gaku Yashiro

Gaku Yashiro is Satoru's homeroom teacher in 1988, a warm, trusted adult who supports his students and helps organise the search when children go missing. Children adore him, parents trust him, and Satoru looks up to him as the kind of steady grown-up he never had at home. In a story about a hidden kidnapper, the most trusted man in town matters greatly.

Appearance

Yashiro is a neat, mild-mannered adult man with a warm, dependable expression, the picture of the ideal elementary school teacher. He dresses plainly, speaks gently, and carries the easy authority of an adult every child in his class would go to first.

Personality

Yashiro is patient, encouraging and deeply trusted, the kind of teacher who notices struggling students, supports them individually and shows up for every search and school event. Satoru looks up to him as the steady grown-up he never had at home. In a town where a kidnapper hides among familiar faces, Yashiro's universal trustworthiness is itself a fact Satoru must learn to think about clearly.

Background & Story

Gaku Yashiro is the homeroom teacher of Satoru's class at elementary school in the Hokkaido town in 1988. For the returned Satoru, an adult mind in a child's body, working to protect Kayo, Yashiro is both a resource and a reminder: in 1988, every adult's help matters, and every adult is part of the world Satoru has to read correctly this time.
