Nabiki Tendo

About Nabiki Tendo

Nabiki Tendo is the middle Tendo sister, a cool-headed opportunist who views the chaos around Ranma as a business opportunity. She sells photographs of Ranma's female form to Kuno, runs betting pools on his duels and rents out family secrets at fair market prices. Utterly unembarrassed and almost impossible to outsmart, Nabiki may be the only person in Nerima who always comes out ahead.

Appearance

Nabiki is a slim teenager with short brown hair in a neat bob and a calm, amused expression. She usually wears her Furinkan uniform or casual clothes, often with a camera in hand when money is nearby.

Personality

Nabiki is sharp, unembarrassed and entirely unsentimental about other people's drama, including her own family's. She never panics, rarely loses and prices everything: information, photographs, silence. Affection exists in her, but it is invoiced.

Background & Story

Nabiki attends Furinkan High with Akane and has built a small economy around Ranma since his arrival: photographs of his female form sold to Kuno, betting pools on his duels, fees for family secrets. She manages much of the Tendo household's real finances and once even became Ranma's fiancée herself for a short, profitable period. In a town of martial artists, Nabiki is proof that the most dangerous skill is accounting.

Key Relationships

• Akane Tendo: Her little sister, loved, teased and regularly monetised.
• Kasumi Tendo: Her elder sister, the only person whose calm matches her own.
• Tatewaki Kuno: Her best customer, who pays premium prices for photographs of Akane and the 'pigtailed girl'.
