About Hakkai Shiba
Hakkai Shiba is the Second Division Vice-Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang, a tall, gentle young man who is painfully shy around girls and unstoppable in a fight. His story, growing up under his violent brother Taiju, leader of the Black Dragons, was the heart of the Christmas Showdown arc, and Mitsuya's friendship is what pulled him through it. In the Three Titans war he fights beside the friends who once saved his family.
Appearance
Hakkai is one of the tallest boys in Toman, with dark blue hair worn in a distinctive wave pattern and a soft, earnest face that does not match his build at all. Put a girl anywhere near him and the intimidating frame collapses into blushing silence. In Toman's uniform, standing beside Mitsuya, he looks like exactly what he is: a gentle giant built for a fight he never starts.
Personality
Hakkai is kind, loyal and brave, with one famous exception: he freezes completely around women who are not his sister. His real defining trait is devotion to family. Raised under his older brother Taiju's violence, he chose to protect his sister Yuzuha by taking the blame and the beatings himself, a lie that nearly destroyed him. Mitsuya's friendship taught him the harder truth: protecting people does not mean suffering alone.
Background & Story
Hakkai grew up in the Shiba household under his elder brother Taiju, the violent leader of the Black Dragon gang, who ruled his younger siblings with his fists. Hakkai shielded his sister Yuzuha by claiming responsibility for everything Taiju punished, a pattern that became the heart of the Christmas Showdown conflict, when the truth about the Shiba family finally came out with Toman's help. As Mitsuya's vice-captain in the Second Division, Hakkai fights beside the friends who saved his family; in the Three Titans war he stands with them again.
Powers & Abilities
- Fighting Strength (skill): Hakkai's size and power make him one of the Second Division's strongest fighters, trusted to hold a line beside Mitsuya.
Key Relationships
- Takashi Mitsuya: His captain and the friend who saved him, Mitsuya's example taught Hakkai what a real older brother looks like.
- Takemichi Hanagaki: A friend from Toman who stood with him during the Shiba family's darkest fight, on Christmas night.
- Manjiro Sano: His leader in Toman. Hakkai's loyalty to Mikey is bound up with the gang that gave him a place outside his brother's house.
