Felt

About Felt

Felt is a fast, foul-mouthed thief girl from the capital's slums whose theft of Emilia's insignia starts the whole story. The insignia's reaction reveals her as a lost royal candidate, dragging her into the selection she wants nothing to do with. With the giant Rom and Reinhard at her side, she campaigns to burn the whole system down.

Appearance

Felt is a small, scrappy girl of about fifteen with messy blonde hair, red eyes and a grin full of mischief, dressed in patched thief's clothes with a scarf and a knife at her belt. Everything about her is quick, feet, hands and mouth. Even cleaned up for the royal selection she looks like a street kid wearing the ceremony as a joke, which is more or less her official position on the ceremony.

Personality

Felt is brash, greedy in the small ways poverty teaches, and fiercely independent. She trusts exactly two people, Old Man Rom, who raised her, and, eventually and furiously, Reinhard, who 'rescued' her into a royal candidacy she never asked for. Her response to being made a candidate is characteristically Felt: accept the platform, then campaign to burn the entire corrupt system down. Under the attitude is a real code, she never breaks a deal and never abandons the slums she came from.

Background & Story

Felt grew up an orphan in the slums of Lugunica's capital, raised by the giant Rom in his loot house and surviving as a thief of supernatural speed. Hired to steal a certain insignia, she took it from Emilia, the theft that brings Subaru into the story. When the insignia glowed in her hand, it marked her as a candidate for the throne: the lost royal bloodline's heir, found in a slum. Kidnapped into candidacy by the Sword Saint Reinhard, who became her knight, Felt entered the royal selection with one promise, to tear the kingdom's rotten order apart.

Powers & Abilities

• Divine protection of wind / blinding speed: Felt's blessing grants her extraordinary speed and agility, making her one of the fastest thieves in the capital.
• Expert thievery: Raised in the slums, Felt is a master pickpocket and escape artist who treats guarded mansions as playgrounds.

Key Relationships

• Reinhard van Astrea: The Sword Saint who recognised her candidacy and became her knight, much to her loud annoyance and quiet reliance.
• Subaru Natsuki: The strange boy who chased her through the slums over a stolen insignia and kept dying around her.
• Emilia: The candidate Felt robbed on day one, and later a rival in the selection she never wanted to join.
