Eren Yeager is the boy who watched the Colossal Titan destroy his home and swore to wipe out every Titan. Hot-headed and relentless, he joins the Survey Corps with Mikasa and Armin, then discovers he can transform into a Titan himself. That power makes him humanity's greatest hope and its greatest danger. Eren's hunger for freedom drives the whole story, wherever it finally leads him.

Appearance

Eren has medium-length dark brown hair, striking green eyes and an intense, expressive face that shows anger and determination openly. As a fifteen-year-old soldier he is lean and wiry at 170 cm, usually in his Survey Corps uniform with the regiment's wings on his back. His Titan form stands fifteen metres tall, heavily muscled with long dark hair, pointed ears and a mouth of exposed teeth with no lips, a face as ferocious as the boy's own rage.

Personality

Eren is driven by a single, consuming hunger: freedom, and revenge on the Titans who took his mother and his home. He is hot-headed, stubborn and blunt, charging where Armin would plan and Mikasa would calculate, and his hatred is both his fuel and his danger. He cannot tolerate cages of any kind, walls, orders or fate, and he idolises the Survey Corps' willingness to die for the world outside. Beneath the fury he is loyal and self-sacrificing, repeatedly offering his own life as the price of his friends' safety.

Background & Story

Eren grew up in Shiganshina, the town jutting from Wall Maria, dreaming of joining the Survey Corps and seeing the outside world his friend Armin described from a banned book, much to his mother Carla's fear. When he was ten, the Colossal and Armored Titans breached the wall; Eren watched a Titan eat his mother as a soldier carried him to safety. Refugee life inside Wall Rose hardened his vow to wipe out every Titan. He enlisted at twelve and graduated in the top ten of the 104th Cadet Corps. In his first battle, at Trost, a secret even Eren did not know surfaces: he transforms into a Titan and fights on humanity's side, becoming at once the military's greatest weapon and its most feared prisoner.

Powers & Abilities

• Titan Transformation (Attack Titan): By injuring himself with a clear goal in mind, Eren transforms into a fifteen-metre Titan with immense strength, speed and regeneration, controlled from the nape of its neck.
• Hardening: Eren learns to harden his Titan's body into crystal-like armour, reinforcing his fists and creating structures strong enough to seal a breached wall.
• Hand-to-Hand Combat: Eren applies martial arts learned from his fellow cadets inside his Titan form, grappling and throwing enemy Titans rather than relying on brute force alone.
• Regeneration: Both his Titan body and, more slowly, his human body heal from severe wounds, regrowing tissue that would kill an ordinary soldier.
