The Promised Neverland is a mystery-horror anime by CloverWorks, adapted from Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's manga. Across two seasons (2019 and 2021, 23 episodes), it follows Emma, Norman and Ray, who discover their beloved orphanage is a farm raising children as food for demons, and plot an escape. Season 1 is famous as one of the tensest cat-and-mouse thrillers in anime.
About The Promised Neverland
The Promised Neverland follows Emma, Norman and Ray, the brightest children at Grace Field House, a warm and loving orphanage run by their devoted caretaker, 'Mom' Isabella. The children eat well, study hard and play freely. The only rule is never to pass the gate or the fence around the grounds. One night, Emma and Norman follow a younger girl who has been 'adopted' to the gate, and discover the truth: the home is a farm, the children are its livestock, and demons are waiting on the other side. What follows in the first season is a masterclass in tension, a silent game of tag, codes and lies in which three eleven-year-olds plot an impossible escape against the one adult they trusted most. The second season takes the survivors beyond the wall, into a demon world of forests, shelters and uneasy allies, as Emma fights to keep a bigger promise: freedom for every child on every farm. Across 23 episodes, the series blends mystery, horror and heartfelt family drama, powered by Takahiro Obata's delicate score and CloverWorks' expressive animation. It remains one of the most gripping thriller anime of its era.
The Promised Neverland is a TV anime from 2019, first released in Winter 2019. It belongs to the Mystery and Horror and Thriller genres and is listed as a completed series. The summary above is written by the AnimeYug team in our own words.

Story & Plot
Grace Field House looks like a perfect home. Thirty-eight children live under one roof, cared for by Isabella, the 'Mom' they all adore. Every day is full of good food, clean white uniforms, daily tests and long games of tag in the forest. The children believe they are orphans waiting to be adopted, until Emma and Norman see what really happens to the children who leave, and learn that the house is a farm raising human children as food for demons.
Swearing to escape with every child in the house, Emma, Norman and the bookish Ray begin a quiet war against Isabella and her watchful helper, Sister Krone, hiding plans inside games, codes and smiles while never knowing who is spying for the other side. After the escape, the children cross a demon world guided by a mysterious pen and the name William Minerva, sheltered by two demons who refuse to eat humans. But freedom for a few is not enough for Emma: to save the children still trapped on the other farms, she must face the Ratri clan and remake the ancient promise between humans and demons.
