Sonju

About Sonju

Sonju is a tall, masked demon who hunts wild beasts alongside Mujika and saves the escaped children from their pursuers. Though his religion forbids eating farmed humans, he dreams of hunting 'natural' ones again someday, an honesty that makes him both protector and warning. He teaches the children to hunt, cook and survive in the demon world.

Appearance

Sonju is a tall, lean demon with a masked, beaked face and long limbs, dressed as a hunter with a cloak and spear. He looks frightening at first sight, exactly what the escaped children expect a demon to be, which makes his dry humour and patience a surprise.

Personality

Sonju is blunt, practical and darkly funny. He follows his faith's rule against eating farmed humans, teaches the children real survival skills without softening them, and is honest about his own nature rather than pretending to be harmless.

Background & Story

Sonju hunts wild beasts in the forests beyond the farms, travelling with Mujika under their shared faith. He rescues the escaped children from pursuing demons and, during their days together, teaches them to hunt, cook, ride and read the demon world's dangers. His lessons give the children their first real chance to live outside, and his honesty about why he helps them keeps the alliance clear-eyed on both sides.
