Story & Plot

In the Clover Kingdom, magic is everything. It decides your rank, your job and your worth. Asta, born with no magic, refuses to accept that fate. When he and Yuno receive their grimoires at fifteen, Asta's black five-leaf book gives him a giant anti-magic sword that can cut through any spell.

Asta joins the Black Bulls, the kingdom's most chaotic squad of Magic Knights, and throws himself into missions, exams and wars against the Eye of the Midnight Sun, elves, devils and enemy kingdoms. Step by step, the boy with no magic earns the respect of nobles who once laughed at him, and uncovers the dark secret behind his own power and Yuno's past.

The deeper Asta digs, the bigger the board becomes: ancient elves, forbidden magic, devils from the underworld and a rival kingdom waiting for its moment to strike. Through it all, the Black Bulls (a found family of misfits, outcasts and nobles) remain the heart of the series, proof that in this world, your squad can matter far more than your birth.
