Victor Licht
From Fire Force
Victor Licht is Company 8's forensic scientist in Fire Force, a Haijima Industries researcher assigned to the brigade as its science officer, and openly suspected by everyone of being a spy. He is voiced by Daisuke Sakaguchi in Japanese and Ian Sinclair in English.
About Victor Licht
Victor Licht is a forensic scientist from Haijima Industries assigned to Company 8 as its science officer, and as Haijima's spy. Wild-haired, grinning and cheerfully amoral, Licht treats the apocalypse as the greatest experiment ever run and follows the data wherever it leads, which is usually somewhere dangerous. Whether he is the brigade's genius or its traitor, even his teammates cannot say, and Licht would not have it any other way.
Appearance
Licht is a lanky man with wild, unkempt dark hair, round glasses and a permanent grin that makes him look like a mad scientist from a children's cartoon, an impression he cultivates. He wears a lab coat over whatever he happens to have on and is usually surrounded by equipment, samples and the smug aura of a man who already knows how the experiment ends.
Personality
Licht is cheerfully amoral and completely honest about it, which somehow makes him harder to read than any liar. He follows data the way saints follow visions: if the truth requires betraying an employer, a brigade or a government, Licht barely notices the decision. He treats the end of the world as the greatest experiment ever run and his own safety as an acceptable variable. Whether that makes him Company 8's genius or its traitor is a question he finds delightful.
Background & Story
Victor Licht was a star researcher at Haijima Industries, the corporation that powers much of the Tokyo Empire, before being assigned to Company 8 as its forensic scientist, with a second, unofficial job: reporting on the brigade for Haijima. He makes no serious effort to hide it. As Company 8's investigations uncover the Empire's secrets, Licht's science becomes indispensable and his loyalties become the brigade's favourite running mystery, one he answers, in his own way, by always, eventually, siding with the truth.
Key Relationships
- Akitaru Obi: His captain, who cheerfully accepts Licht knowing he is probably a spy, and trusts him anyway, which fascinates Licht.
- Shinra Kusakabe: Company 8's Pillar, and the most interesting data set Licht has ever been handed.
- Joker: A fellow hunter of the Empire's hidden truths, working the same mystery from the shadows Licht works from the lab.
