Hibana
From Fire Force
Hibana is the captain of Fire Force's Company 5, a third-generation pyrokinetic whose heat syncope makes enemies swoon among falling petals of flame, and a brilliant researcher hiding a burned-out faith. She is voiced by Lynn in Japanese and Colleen Clinkenbeard in English.
About Hibana
Hibana is the captain of Company 5, a third-generation pyrokinetic whose heat syncope makes enemies swoon at her feet, literally, among falling petals of flame. Beautiful, sadistic and brilliant, she treats her own company as servants, a cruelty born in the ashes of the convent that raised her. Shinra's stubborn decency cracks her armour: Hibana shows what faith looks like after it burns.
Appearance
Hibana is a beautiful young woman of 169 cm with long pink hair and an imperious bearing, dressing her captain's uniform with a princess's flair. Her flames take the shape of falling flower petals, gorgeous right up until the heat sickness hits. She looks at most people the way royalty looks at furniture, an expression that earned her the name 'Princess' long before it became affectionate.
Personality
Hibana is proud, sadistic in manner and genuinely brilliant, a researcher whose cruelty is a performance built on ashes. Raised in the Temple's orphanage, she watched everyone she loved burn in a single night and concluded that faith was a fraud and the world a place where the strong decorate their cruelty. Shinra's stubborn, graceless decency cracks that armour: underneath is a scientist who still wants the truth about combustion more than she wants revenge for it.
Background & Story
Hibana grew up in the Holy Sol Temple's orphanage alongside Iris and the other Sisters, a gifted girl whose pyrokinetic talent bloomed as beautiful petals of flame. When the orphanage burned and the other Sisters became Infernals, Hibana survived, and rebuilt herself as a researcher and captain of Company 5, treating her own soldiers as servants and the Temple's doctrines as lies. Her company and Company 8 clash early, but her real war is with the mystery that took her family: she joins the search for combustion's cause with a scientist's obsession and a survivor's debt.
Powers & Abilities
- Heat Syncope: Hibana's ability overwhelms opponents with intense heat, inducing dizziness and collapse, enemies literally swoon and fall at her feet amid her flames.
- Clematis Petals: Hibana shapes her fire into beautiful falling petals and flowering constructs of flame, as precise and decorative as they are dangerous.
Key Relationships
- Iris: Her fellow Sister from the Temple orphanage, Iris's surviving faith is everything Hibana lost, and their bond survived the fire that took the others.
- Shinra Kusakabe: The rookie whose plain, stubborn decency broke through her 'Princess' cruelty, she becomes one of Company 8's most valuable allies, and makes no effort to hide her interest in him.
- Akitaru Obi: Company 8's captain, whose straightforward respect for her research makes him one of the few captains Hibana treats as an equal.
