Tatsuya Himuro

About Tatsuya Himuro

Tatsuya Himuro is Yosen's shooting guard, an elegant, near-flawless player who learned basketball in America, where a young Taiga Kagami called him his big brother. Their bond broke over a promise and a ring, and they meet again in Japan on opposite sides of the Winter Cup. Graceful and quietly ruthless, Himuro's Mirage Shot makes him the most 'normal' elite player in the series: proof of how far pure technique can go.

Appearance

Himuro is 183 cm, slim and graceful, with black hair covering one eye and a calm, handsome face that gives nothing away. He wears Yosen's number 12 jersey. His basketball is beautiful to watch: textbook footwork, a feathery release, fakes so smooth that defenders move before he does. There is no wasted motion anywhere in his game, the opposite of Kagami's raw explosion, which is exactly why their reunion matters: Himuro is what Kagami might have become if he had stayed in America and perfected technique instead of finding a team.

Personality

Himuro is composed, kind and quietly ruthless about his own standards. He taught Kagami basketball and loved him like a brother, but when the younger boy's talent began to surpass him, pride poisoned the bond, a thrown match and a broken promise over their matching rings ended it. Himuro carries that regret with dignity; he does not make excuses, and on court he is a gentleman who plays to win completely. His near-perfection is the point of him: Himuro shows the ceiling of pure technique, and the loneliness of a player who has everything except a team that feels like family.

Background & Story

Himuro learned basketball on the same American street courts as Kagami, taught by Alexandra Garcia, and the two boys swore brotherhood, wearing matching rings. As Kagami's raw talent bloomed past his own, Himuro could not accept being overtaken by his 'little brother', in their final match in America he held back, Kagami sensed it, and the bond shattered. Himuro returned to Japan and joined Yosen, where his partnership with Murasakibara makes the team a defensive fortress with a perfect technician at guard. At the Winter Cup he faces Kagami and Seirin with everything unresolved between them, and their duel becomes a conversation neither could have in words.

Powers & Abilities

• Mirage Shot: Himuro's signature shot: a release so smooth and deceptive, appearing to shoot, then shooting for real as the defender reacts to the fake, that blockers cannot time it.
• Perfect Form: His fundamentals are flawless, footwork, fakes and shooting mechanics polished to the highest level technique alone can reach.

Key Relationships

• Taiga Kagami: His American 'little brother', Himuro taught him the game, lost him to pride, and faces him at the Winter Cup to settle it.
• Atsushi Murasakibara: His Yosen partner, Himuro is one of the few who can manage the giant's moods and feed him the ball.
• Tetsuya Kuroko: An opponent Himuro respects; Kuroko reads the regret between him and Kagami faster than anyone.
