Yukio Kasamatsu

About Yukio Kasamatsu

Yukio Kasamatsu is Kaijo's captain and point guard, a third-year whose speed, drives and leadership hold a team of stars together. Fiercely emotional beneath his discipline, he blames himself for Kaijo's past losses and cries when he thinks nobody sees, Kasamatsu is the senior who teaches Kise what being an ace's teammate means. His one-on-one battles and his trust in his players make Kaijo far more than Kise's supporting cast.

Appearance

Kasamatsu is 178 cm with dark, spiky hair and sharp eyes that are usually narrowed in focus or fury. He wears Kaijo's number 4 jersey as captain. His game is built on a lightning first step, he is past his defender before the defence sets, and on handles that keep the ball safe at full speed. Off court he is famously awkward around girls and quick to blush, a gap his teammates never let him forget. On court there is no gap at all: Kasamatsu plays like every possession is a debt he intends to repay.

Personality

Kasamatsu is disciplined, demanding and far more emotional than he wants anyone to know. He blames himself for Kaijo's past failures, one fumbled pass in a big game has haunted him for years, and he channels that guilt into relentless standards for himself and his team. He is hard on Kise precisely because he believes in him, and the trust goes both ways: Kaijo's stars follow their captain because he never asks for effort he does not give first. When Kaijo loses, Kasamatsu cries in private and takes responsibility in public. He is the model of the non-prodigy captain in a series full of miracles.

Background & Story

Kasamatsu became Kaijo's captain and starting point guard through work rather than miracle talent, at one of Kanagawa's strongest schools. A mistake he made as a younger player, which he believes cost Kaijo a tournament, drives his whole career. With Kise's arrival he suddenly captains a team with a Generation of Miracles ace, and has to learn to be the senior who both unleashes and restrains that talent. Against Seirin he duels Izuki guard-to-guard and leads Kaijo's stand even as his body reaches its limit. His story shows what the series values in its ordinary players: leadership as a skill, built from failure, responsibility and refusing to let the team fall apart.

Powers & Abilities

• Speed Drives: Kasamatsu's explosive first step and ball-handling let him blow past defenders and finish or create shots for Kaijo's scorers.
• Captain's Ball Control: Under pressure his dribbling stays secure, letting Kaijo run its offence against intense full-court defence.

Key Relationships

• Ryota Kise: His ace, Kasamatsu is hard on Kise because he refuses to let the Miracle waste his talent or his team.
• Shun Izuki: Seirin's point guard and his opposite number, a duel of speed against court vision.
• Junpei Hyuga: A fellow non-prodigy captain; the two share the burden of leading teams built around brighter stars.
