About Seiko Ayase
Seiko Ayase is Momo's grandmother, a famous spirit medium known as Dodoria Santa who looks decades younger than she is. She runs the Ayase household, lays down protective barriers and teaches the teenagers how the spirit world works. Seiko is blunt, stylish and extremely powerful, the adult every ghost, alien and lovesick teenager in Dandadan eventually has to answer to.
Appearance
Seiko looks like a woman in her twenties, tall, slim and stylish, with long light hair, sharp eyes and a smoker's cool confidence, despite being a grandmother, a fact she deploys purely to enjoy people's reactions. She dresses fashionably, favours sunglasses and bold outfits, and carries sacred tools the way other women carry handbags: casually and ready to use. Her youthful appearance is never explained and she would not explain it if asked. Everything about her presentation says the same thing as her house's barriers: underestimated people are her favourite kind of trap.
Personality
Seiko is blunt, stylish and completely unshockable, a woman who has seen every kind of spirit and treats Armageddon like a scheduling problem. She teases the teenagers mercilessly, charges for her wisdom in dinners and cigarettes, and adores her granddaughter without ever being soft about it. Underneath the cool is absolute reliability: Seiko's barriers hold, her assessments are right, and when a fight exceeds the children's level she steps in herself. She is the adult every ghost, alien and lovesick teenager in Dandadan eventually has to answer to.
