Sabo
From One Piece
Sabo is the Chief of Staff of the Revolutionary Army and a supporting character in One Piece, second in command of the army fighting the World Government. He is Luffy and Ace's sworn brother, and he later inherited Ace's Flame-Flame Fruit. He is voiced by Miyu Irino in Japanese (originally Tōru Furuya) and Johnny Yong Bosch in English.
About Sabo
Sabo is the chief of staff of the Revolutionary Army, second only to its leader, Dragon. As children, he swore brotherhood with Ace and Luffy over a cup of sake, but a terrible incident tore them apart and cost Sabo his memories for years. When his past finally returned, he inherited Ace's fire powers, and now he fights to free the world from the Celestial Dragons.
Appearance
Sabo is a tall young man with wavy blond hair, a scar and burn marks over his left eye, and a gentleman-rebel look: a long dark coat, cravat, top hat with goggles, and a simple pipe he carries as a weapon. After eating Ace's fruit, his hands wreathe in flame, and his clawed fighting stance, fingers curled like a dragon's talons, is unmistakable in battle.
Personality
Sabo is cheerful, kind and freedom-loving, much closer to Luffy in spirit than his noble birth suggests. As a boy he rejected the corrupt nobility of his own family; as a man he serves the Revolution with warmth and total conviction, and a teasing older-brother energy toward everyone younger. His one raw nerve is his lost brothers: the years he forgot them are his deepest regret, and Sabo's fury when he speaks of what the Celestial Dragons did to his family is the coldest thing about him.
Background & Story
Sabo was born to nobles of the Goa Kingdom on Dawn Island, and ran away from their loveless house to live in the Gray Terminal slum, where he met Ace, and then Luffy, and the three boys swore brotherhood over cups of sake and dreamed of sailing free. When Sabo tried to set out to sea at ten, a Celestial Dragon's ship shot him down; everyone believed him dead. In truth he was rescued by the Revolutionary Dragon, with his memories gone, and grew up in the Revolutionary Army, rising to Chief of Staff. At Dressrosa, twenty years on, Sabo's memory came flooding back, too late for Ace, but in time to win Ace's Devil Fruit and carry his fire forward.
