Paul Greyrat

About Paul Greyrat

Paul is Rudeus's father, a brilliant, womanising former adventurer who settled down as a village knight. Flawed and impulsive, he leads the search party hunting for Teleport Incident victims for years without giving up on his missing family. His reunion with Rudeus is painful, honest and one of the series' most human storylines.

Appearance

Paul is a handsome, athletic man with brown hair and green eyes, usually in a village knight's gear or travelling leathers with a sword at his hip. He carries himself like the adventurer he was, easy grin, quick hands, a little too much charm, and ages visibly across the search years, the grief and guilt of a father looking for his family written into his face long before his son sees it.

Personality

Paul is talented, warm and a mess. A runaway noble who became an elite adventurer, he is brave, generous and fatally impulsive, with women, with money and with his son, whose adult-seeming mind Paul cannot understand and keeps failing to treat as a child. His greatness is endurance: when the Teleport Incident takes his family, Paul spends years leading the search, begging, fighting and organising, refusing to stop. His reunion with Rudeus is painful because both of them are right about each other, and both are wrong.

Background & Story

Paul Greyrat was born to the Notos Greyrat noble house, ran away to become an adventurer, and rose into the S-rank party Fangs of the Black Wolf alongside Ghislaine and Elinalise before settling in Buena Village as a knight and marrying the healer Zenith. When the Teleport Incident scatters his family across the world, Paul founds a search and rescue squad and spends years hunting for them, writing letters, crossing continents and slowly becoming the kind of man his son will eventually have to reckon with, and forgive.

Powers & Abilities

• Three-style swordsmanship: Paul is an advanced-rank swordsman in all three sword styles, Sword God, Water God and North God, a rare and elite combination.
• Adventurer leadership: As a former S-rank party member he leads the search and rescue squad with real field experience.

Key Relationships

• Rudeus Greyrat: His son, their relationship, broken by misunderstanding and rebuilt through honesty, is central to the family's story.
• Zenith Greyrat: His wife, whose disappearance in the Teleport Incident drives Paul's years of searching.
• Lilia Greyrat: The family maid who becomes his second wife, holding the household, and Paul, together.
• Ghislaine Dedoldia: His old party comrade from Fangs of the Black Wolf, now serving the Boreas family.
