Katsuki Bakugo
From My Hero Academia
Katsuki Bakugo is a main character in My Hero Academia, a Class 1-A student at U.A. High whose Explosion Quirk and fierce drive make him Izuku Midoriya's childhood friend turned rival. He is voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto in Japanese and Clifford Chapin in English.
About Katsuki Bakugo
Bakugo is U.A. High's loudest student hero, blessed with an Explosion Quirk, a brilliant combat mind and a temper that goes off just as fast. A childhood friend turned bitter rival of Izuku Midoriya, he starts the story as a proud bully who expects to be number one, and slowly, painfully learns what being a hero actually costs. His growth from arrogance to real courage is one of the series' biggest journeys.
Appearance
Bakugo has spiky ash-blond hair that juts out in every direction, sharp red eyes and a near-permanent scowl. He is strongly built for his age from constant combat training. His hero costume is built for battle: black and orange armour-like panels, a high collar, metal knee guards and huge grenade-shaped gauntlets on his forearms that store his explosive sweat. Out of costume he favours dark, loose clothes and walks with his hands in his pockets, shoulders hunched, glaring at anyone who gets in his way.
Personality
Bakugo is loud, proud and brutally competitive, convinced from childhood that he is destined to be the number one hero. Praise as a boy fed an arrogance that turned cruel, especially toward the Quirkless Izuku he nicknamed Deku. Underneath the temper sits a sharp tactical mind, a perfectionist work ethic and a refusal to win cheaply, he wants victory to mean something. His growth is slow and hard-won: learning to accept help, to apologise, and to measure himself by who he saves rather than who he beats.
Background & Story
Bakugo grew up in the same neighbourhood as Izuku Midoriya, and the two were close friends as small children. When Bakugo's powerful Explosion Quirk appeared at age four, adults and classmates praised him constantly, and he began to look down on the Quirkless Izuku, bullying him for years while Izuku kept trying to stay his friend. Both boys idolised All Might and aimed for U.A. High, Japan's top hero school. Bakugo passed the entrance exam with the highest combat score and entered Class 1-A, where, to his fury, Izuku arrived too, suddenly displaying a Quirk of his own. Being matched, challenged and sometimes beaten by classmates he once dismissed forces Bakugo to confront what his pride has cost, and his story becomes a long, painful climb from bully to genuine hero.

- Howitzer Impact: Bakugo spins himself into a tornado-like charge and releases his stored power in one huge finishing explosion on impact.
