Inosuke is a wild young swordsman raised by boars in the mountains, who wears a boar's head over his own and charges at every problem head-first. He fights with two chipped blades and his own Beast Breathing style, trusting sharp instincts over manners or plans. Travelling with Tanjiro slowly teaches him friendship, patience and even how to think.

Appearance

Inosuke is almost never seen without his mask: the hollowed head of a grey boar, its blue eyes glassy and its snarl frozen, the head of the mother boar who raised him. Beneath it, to everyone's shock, is a strikingly beautiful face with long black-to-blue hair and green eyes, completely at odds with his gravelly voice and hulking, muscular build. He wears the Corps uniform trousers with a fur pelt around his waist, goes bare-chested and barefoot, and carries two Nichirin blades he deliberately chips into serrated edges with a rock. He moves like an animal even in conversation, crouching, sniffing, and challenging everyone to fight.

Personality

Inosuke is a creature of pure instinct: proud, aggressive and convinced he is the strongest being in any forest, building or room. Raised without humans, he has no manners, no reading skills and no concept of kindness at first, he measures everything by dominance and headbutts. But the wild boy is not cruel, just unfinished. Travelling with Tanjiro gives him his first experience of people caring whether he lives, and it confuses and warms him in equal measure, a 'fluffy' feeling he cannot name. His growth is the story's funniest and quietly saddest: a boy learning, one meal and one friend at a time, how to be a person.

Background & Story

Inosuke was born into a violent home, and his mother, fleeing his abusive father and grandmother, threw her baby into a river to save him from being killed, he was found and raised by a mother boar in the mountains. He grew up fighting beasts for territory, learning human speech by challenging a passing old man to read to him, and taught himself swordsmanship after taking blades from slayers he defeated. He entered Final Selection on a whim, passed, and received his swords and orders like everyone else, understanding none of it. Meeting Tanjiro's group on a demon-haunted mountain gave the king of the mountain his first real pack, and his first reason to fight for someone other than himself.

• Beast Breathing: Inosuke's self-created style, derived from Wind Breathing, with fang-like forms built on wild, unpredictable slashes.
• Spatial Awareness (Seventh Form): By feeling disturbances in the air across a wide area, Inosuke can locate hidden enemies without seeing or hearing them.
• Twin serrated blades: He chips his two Nichirin swords into jagged edges that tear through demon flesh like fangs.
• Extreme flexibility and senses: Raised in the wild, Inosuke can dislocate his own joints to squeeze or reach anywhere, and his sense of touch detects vibrations others miss.

Key Relationships

• Tanjiro Kamado: His rival, leader and first true friend, the person whose kindness keeps confusing and changing Inosuke.
• Zenitsu Agatsuma: His comrade, whose cowardice Inosuke mocks constantly and whose courage, when it comes, he respects.
• Nezuko Kamado: A comrade he slowly warms to, mangling her name less and less as the journey goes on.
