Choso

About Choso

Choso is the eldest of the Death Painting brothers, cursed wombs who were incarnated into human bodies after 150 years as objects. His Blood Manipulation lets him weaponise his own blood in battle. Cold and distant with everyone else, he lives by one rule taught by his mother: brothers protect each other, no matter what stands in the way.

Appearance

Choso is a tall, lean man with long dark hair tied in two high tufts on either side of his head, heavy-lidded eyes and a distinctive dark marking, a band across the bridge of his nose, a trait of his Death Painting nature. He wears traditional-style clothing: a pale robe-like outfit with a dark scarf and sash, giving him an old-fashioned, almost monk-like silhouette that fits his 150 years. His expression rarely changes; a flat, bored stare is his default for the whole world. Only when his brothers are mentioned does anything like warmth, or fury, cross his face.

Personality

Choso is cold, quiet and openly contemptuous of everyone outside his family. He speaks little, wastes no motion, and treats most fights as chores. But his devotion to his brothers is absolute and simple: their mother taught them that they live for each other, and Choso has organised his entire existence around that lesson for a century and a half. It makes him predictable in the best and worst ways, threaten his brothers and he will kill without hesitation; earn the name of brother, and he will die for you without hesitation either. Beneath the flat affect is real grief for the family his kind were denied, carried with grim patience.

Background & Story

Choso and his eight brothers were created over 150 years ago through the cruel experiments of the sorcerer Noritoshi Kamo, mixing human and cursed spirit blood. The brothers were sealed as cursed objects, conscious, waiting, neither alive nor dead, until the modern era, when Mahito's group stole the Death Paintings from Jujutsu High and incarnated the three eldest into human bodies. Choso emerged into a world that had forgotten him, with one purpose intact: protect Eso and Kechizu, the only family he has. He allied with the curses who freed him, not from loyalty to their cause, but because they offered his brothers a place in the world they planned to build. For Choso, every allegiance is temporary; brotherhood is forever.

Powers & Abilities

• Blood Manipulation: Choso controls his own blood freely, hardening it, shaping it into blades and threads, and firing it at lethal speed.
• Piercing Blood: His signature strike fires a compressed beam of blood at supersonic speed, strong enough to punch through cover and sorcerers alike.
• Convergence and Supernova: He compresses blood into dense orbs that can be detonated outward in a spray of hardened blood shards.
• Poisonous blood: As a Death Painting, Choso's blood is poisonous to humans, so even a glancing hit can keep damaging his enemy.

Key Relationships

• Yuji Itadori: An enemy Choso fought in Shibuya, and a bond he did not expect would change the meaning of 'brother' for him forever.
• Mahito: The curse who freed the Death Paintings; Choso works with his group for his brothers' sake, not from any love of curses.
• Suguru Geto: The leader of the group Choso allied with after being incarnated, whose plans offered the Death Paintings a future.
