Aoi Todo

About Aoi Todo

Aoi Todo is a huge, eccentric third-year from Kyoto Jujutsu High whose technique, Boogie Woogie, swaps the positions of anything with cursed energy when he claps. He judges everyone by their taste in women and adores the idol Takada-chan. Under the comedy is a brilliant fighter whose instincts in battle are among the sharpest of any student.

Appearance

Todo is enormous, one of the tallest and most muscular students in either school, with a scarred face, a perpetual grin and dark hair worn in a topknot-style ponytail. He often goes shirtless under his Kyoto Jujutsu High uniform jacket, the better to show off a physique he is extremely proud of, and he wears a locket containing photos of his beloved idol Takada-chan and, later, of Yuji. Everything about Todo is oversized: his body, his voice, his confidence and his entrances, which tend to involve demanding strangers answer his favourite question before any fighting starts.

Personality

Todo appears to be a muscle-brained brute who decides friendships by asking men what kind of women they like, and his standards are absurdly specific. The surprise is that he is genuinely brilliant: a grade 1-level student whose battle instincts, analysis and teaching are superb, able to drag a partner's fighting to a higher level mid-battle. He is sentimental, loyal to the point of declaring brotherhood on first impressions, and a devoted fan who weeps at idol events. Todo lives entirely by his own code, respects anyone with a 'interesting' answer, and treats boredom as the only real enemy. Under the comedy is one of the sharpest fighters of his generation.

Background & Story

Todo was a Kyoto Jujutsu High student with no sorcerer family behind him, scouted and trained by the special grade sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo, who taught him to ask his famous question. By his third year he was already famous in the jujutsu world for handling a night parade of a hundred demons largely alone. He arrived at the Tokyo exchange event intending to judge the other school's students, and found in Yuji Itadori a man whose answer to his question was so perfect that Todo's imagination supplied an entire shared middle-school past on the spot. From that moment Yuji became his 'brother' and best friend, and Todo became one of the young sorcerers Tokyo could count on when it mattered most.

Powers & Abilities

• Boogie Woogie: By clapping his hands, Todo swaps the positions of any two things with enough cursed energy, people, curses, even himself and an enemy.
• Superhuman physique: Todo's strength, speed and durability are elite even among grade 1 fighters, letting him brawl directly with special grade curses.
• Battle genius: His analysis and improvisation in a fight are exceptional, he reads techniques in seconds and invents counters and feints on the spot.

Key Relationships

• Yuji Itadori: His self-declared brother and best friend, adopted the moment Yuji gave the perfect answer to Todo's favourite question.
• Satoru Gojo: A fellow admirer of strong personalities, Todo respects raw talent wherever he finds it, and Gojo's school produced his brother.
• Mahito: An enemy whose soul-touching cruelty Todo faced head-on beside Yuji, at real cost to himself.
