About Zombieman
Zombieman is an S-Class hero who cannot die: shot, shredded or burned, his body simply puts itself back together, letting him win wars of attrition no one else could survive. A former test subject of the House of Evolution, he chain-smokes through investigations between battles with a detective's instinct. His calm endurance makes him the heroes' specialist for enemies that refuse to stay down.
Appearance
Zombieman is a lean, pale man with messy dark hair, heavy-lidded eyes and a permanent five-o'clock shadow, usually seen in a worn coat with a cigarette in hand. He looks like a noir detective who has not slept in a decade, appropriate, since neither sleep nor death quite applies to him. In battle his look becomes his power's advertisement: shot, cut and burned, he keeps standing in the wreckage of his own body while it quietly knits itself back together.
Personality
Zombieman is dry, patient and quietly cynical, with a detective's habit of asking one more question than anyone else in the room. Immortality has made him unhurried rather than arrogant: he knows most problems can be outlasted, including, eventually, his enemies. He is one of the more grounded S-Class heroes, professional with Child Emperor, honest about his own limits, and carrying his laboratory past without self-pity, as a case he still intends to close.
Background & Story
Zombieman was once Subject 66, an experiment of the House of Evolution, Dr. Genus' laboratory of monsters, and the only success of its immortality line. He escaped that past into the Hero Association, rising to S-Class rank 8 as its specialist for investigations and enemies that cannot be killed conventionally. Between battles he works like a detective, following threads on the House of Evolution and the monster world alike, chain-smoking through stakeouts. In the Monster Association war he is the heroes' attrition weapon: sent against the vampire-like elders and unkillable horrors, to win the way he always wins, by not staying dead.
Powers & Abilities
- Regeneration and Immortality: Zombieman's body rebuilds itself from extreme damage, gunfire, dismemberment and incineration slow him down but do not finish him, letting him win wars of attrition no one else survives.
- Attrition Combat: He fights with axes, guns and patience, trading damage freely and grinding down enemies whose stamina, unlike his, is finite.
Key Relationships
- Child Emperor: The young strategist he works with most closely in the war, one of the few heroes whose plans Zombieman follows without argument.
- Genos: A fellow artificial human of a very different laboratory, the two share an understanding of being built, and of hunting their makers' shadows.
- Sweet Mask: The A-Class gatekeeper who insinuates Zombieman is no better than a monster hiding in the Association, an accusation the immortal answers with unusual heat.
