Atomic Samurai is an S-Class swordsman whose blade moves faster than sight, cutting enemies down to the atomic level. Proud, traditional and dismissive of the weak, he leads a council of master swordsmen and trains three A-Class disciples who top the rankings. His duels in the Monster Association war, against the effortlessly terrifying Black Sperm, test the absolute limits of human swordsmanship.
Appearance
Atomic Samurai, real name Kamikaze, is a rugged middle-aged swordsman with stubble, sharp eyes and long dark hair tied back. He wears traditional Japanese clothing with a haori, chews a toothpick stem with samurai nonchalance, and carries his katana like an extension of his posture. In battle the casual front drops: his stance, draw and cuts are so fast the animators show enemies falling apart before the blade seems to move.
Personality
Atomic Samurai is proud, traditional and bluntly dismissive of anyone he considers weak, which at first includes most people. He respects mastery, hierarchy and the sword above the Association's celebrity culture, and he is loyal to his disciples and fellow masters in the old style: gruff, demanding and absolute. His pride is not empty: decades of discipline stand behind it, and when monsters push him to his limits he answers the way he was trained to, by cutting deeper into himself for more.
Background & Story
Kamikaze mastered the sword over a lifetime and rose to S-Class rank 4 and a seat at the head of the Council of Swordmasters, the traditional authority among hero swordsmen. He trains three disciples, Iaian, Okamaitachi and Bushidrill, who hold the top three spots of A-Class, and he judges younger heroes, including Saitama, by old-school standards he rarely bothers to hide. The Monster Association war gives his generation its hardest test, pitting pure swordsmanship against monsters whose numbers and regeneration mock the very idea of a clean kill.
