Pocoloco
Pocoloco is a cheerful farmer in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run who enters the race after a fortune teller promises him two months of the best luck on Earth. His Stand, Hey Ya!, does nothing but encourage him, his luck does the rest. He is voiced by Kenichirou Matsuda in Japanese.
About Pocoloco
Pocoloco is a cheerful farmer who entered the Steel Ball Run on a fortune teller's word: for two months, his luck would be the best on Earth, one chance in five billion. Utterly unskilled and completely fearless, he survives disaster after disaster by accident, grinning all the way. His Stand, Hey Ya! does nothing but encourage him, because encouragement is all his luck needs.
Appearance
Pocoloco is a lanky young farmhand with a wide, ever-present grin, usually in simple work clothes and a hat, riding his horse with more enthusiasm than technique. Where other racers look focused or haunted, Pocoloco looks like a man on holiday, which, given the disasters that keep missing him by inches, is roughly accurate.
Personality
Pocoloco is easygoing, optimistic and completely unbothered by danger, because danger has never once managed to touch him. He is not brave so much as blessed: cliffs, stampedes and assassins all arrange themselves around his smile. A small voice at his shoulder, Hey Ya!, cheers him on constantly, and Pocoloco's total faith in his fortune makes him the happiest man in the deadliest race on Earth.
Background & Story
Pocoloco was a farm worker going nowhere when a fortune teller told him his luck was about to peak: for two months, she said, his fortune would be the best on the planet, one chance in five billion. On that promise alone he entered the Steel Ball Run, a race he had no skill for, on a borrowed chance. From the first stage, the impossible keeps happening around him: falls break kindly, shortcuts open, and disaster after disaster slides past the grinning farmer.
Powers & Abilities
- Hey Ya!: Pocoloco's Stand is a small figure that rides on his shoulder and offers constant encouragement and advice, it grants no power itself, because Pocoloco's supernatural luck needs none.
Key Relationships
- Sandman: A fellow outsider of the early stages, the man racing on foot, whose seriousness contrasts with Pocoloco's grin through the opening stages.
- Johnny Joestar: One of the star racers whose deadly serious quest keeps colliding with Pocoloco's absurd, charmed run.
