About Maho Hiyajo
Maho Hiyajo is a researcher at Viktor Chondria University and Kurisu's senior colleague, despite looking young enough to be mistaken for a schoolgirl, a sore point she defends fiercely. She helped create Amadeus, the AI built from Kurisu's memories, and guards both the system and her friend's legacy. In Steins;Gate 0 her stubborn honesty becomes one of Okabe's few lifelines back to hope.
Appearance
Maho is a very petite woman with long, wavy light-brown hair and green eyes, usually in a blouse and skirt or lab wear. Her youthful looks are a lifelong sore point, especially next to taller colleagues.
Personality
Maho is sharp, stubborn and honest to the point of bluntness. She guards her late friend Kurisu's work fiercely, resents being treated as a child and argues with Okabe in Steins;Gate 0 as one of the few people willing to tell him hard truths.
Background & Story
Maho worked alongside Kurisu Makise in America on neuroscience research, including the Amadeus system, which models a person's memories and personality as an AI. In Steins;Gate 0 she comes to Japan with that work, and with her grief and loyalty to Kurisu, and becomes entangled with Okabe and the lab as different groups compete for what Kurisu left behind. (Premise only.)
Key Relationships
- Kurisu Makise: Her junior colleague and friend, whose research and legacy Maho protects.
- Rintaro Okabe: The lab founder she challenges, in Steins;Gate 0, to face the past honestly.
