Kofuku

About Kofuku

Kofuku is a goddess of poverty who runs a small shop with her partner Daikoku and spreads disaster wherever she goes, storms, bankruptcies and bad luck follow her smile. Cheerful and flirty, she adores Yato and Hiyori and opens portals to Yomi with a flick of her fan. Despite her playful image, Kofuku is an old, powerful god feared by heaven itself.

Appearance

Kofuku is a small, cute goddess with short pink hair and a bright smile, usually in casual, girlish clothes. Nothing about her looks like one of the most dangerous beings in heaven, which is part of her cover.

Personality

Kofuku is playful, affectionate and theatrical, calling Yato 'Yatty' and Hiyori 'Hiyorin' and treating catastrophe as weather. She is also genuinely kind to strays and completely unafraid of heaven's authority, because heaven is afraid of her first.

Background & Story

Kofuku is a binbogami, a god of poverty and misfortune, whose presence brings bankruptcies, storms and ruin, so she lives quietly under an alias with her shinki Daikoku running a small shop. She shelters Yato whenever he is broke or homeless, befriends Hiyori and, when asked, opens vents to the underworld with Daikoku's fan form, a power heaven would rather she never used. Her friendship is one of Yato's oldest lifelines.

Powers & Abilities

• Misfortune aura: As a god of poverty, disaster follows Kofuku, storms, collapse and ruin gather where she goes, which is why heaven keeps its distance.
• Vent opening: With Daikoku's fan form, Kofuku can tear open vents to Yomi, the underworld.

Key Relationships

• Daikoku: Her shinki and partner, who runs their shop and contains her disasters as best anyone can.
• Yato: Her favourite stray god, sheltered and teased in equal measure.
• Hiyori Iki: The human girl Kofuku adores and advises about gods.
