Happy is a main character of Fairy Tail, a small blue cat with wings, an Exceed from another world, and Natsu's best friend and partner since the day he hatched. He is voiced by Rie Kugimiya in Japanese and Tia Ballard in English.
About Happy
A blue flying cat of the Exceed race, hatched from an egg Natsu found and raised as his closest partner. Happy's Aera magic lets him fly and carry Natsu into battle, and his cheerful 'Aye, sir!' hides a brave heart, he never abandons a friend, however big the enemy. He loves fish, teases Lucy constantly and provides much of Fairy Tail's comedy, but his loyalty in the guild's darkest moments is never in doubt.
Appearance
Happy is a small blue-furred cat who walks on two legs, with a white belly, a pink nose and large expressive eyes. He wears a green leaf-patterned neckerchief and carries a small green pack, usually holding fish or emergency snacks. The green Fairy Tail mark is on his back. When he uses his magic, two white feathered wings sprout from his back, large enough to carry a full-grown Dragon Slayer through the sky. His whole design says mascot; his role in a fight says air support.
Personality
Happy is cheerful, cheeky and ruled by two appetites: fish, and teasing his friends. His catchphrase 'Aye, sir!' and his singsong mockery of Lucy and Carla make him the team's comic relief, but the comedy is a choice, not a limitation. Happy is brave in the moments that matter, flying into danger to pull Natsu out of it, and his loyalty has no conditions at all. He also falls in love instantly and hopelessly, first with Carla, and takes rejection the way he takes everything: loudly, briefly, and then with lunch.
Background & Story
Happy's egg fell from the sky over the forest near Magnolia, where the young Natsu found it, guarded it and, with Lisanna's help, kept it warm until a blue kitten with wings hatched. What nobody on Earth Land knew: Happy was an Exceed, one of a hundred eggs sent from the world of Edolas through a portal before he was born. He grew up in Fairy Tail believing he was simply a cat who could fly, became Natsu's constant companion, and was there for every adventure, Phantom Lord, Tenrou Island, the Grand Magic Games and beyond. The truth about Edolas, when it came, changed nothing about who he was: Fairy Tail's Happy.
