Dot Barrett

About Dot Barrett

Dot Barrett is one of Mash Burnedead's classmates at Easton Magic Academy, an explosion magic user with the loudest voice and the shortest temper in their group. Dot charges into everything at full volume, hates handsome and popular boys on principle, and turns every exam, meal and corridor into a competition. Underneath the shouting is a loyal friend who never leaves anyone behind.

Appearance

Dot is easy to spot: spiky red hair, a fierce grin and an expression that is usually mid-shout. He wears the Easton uniform like he is about to fight it, and his whole posture is one coiled spring of a boy looking for a contest.

Personality

Dot is loud, proud and comically competitive, convinced he is the main character of every room he enters. He cannot stand boys who are more popular than him, which makes life around Mash confusing for him. But his loyalty is real: when his friends are in danger, Dot is the first one charging in.

Background & Story

Dot came to Easton burning to prove himself and quickly collided with Mash, whose deadpan strength kept upstaging him without even trying. What started as one-sided rivalry settled into friendship, and Dot has fought alongside Mash's group through the academy's exams and the Divine Visionary selection, explosions and all.

Powers & Abilities

• Explosion magic: Dot's personal magic creates explosions, which he fires off as blasts in battle. It suits him: direct, destructive and impossible to ignore.

Key Relationships

• Mash Burnedead: His classmate and self-declared rival. Dot cannot decide whether he wants to beat Mash or stand next to him, and usually does both.
• Lemon Irvine: A classmate in their group. Dot's grand romantic ambitions keep colliding with the fact that Lemon only has eyes for Mash.
