Benimaru is the proud prince of the ogre village, who leads his surviving people to Rimuru after the orcs destroy their home. Named and evolved into a kijin, he becomes Tempest's military commander, calm, loyal and frighteningly strong. He carries the weight of his lost village into every battle he fights for his new one.

Appearance

Benimaru is a tall, handsome kijin with crimson hair, sharp red eyes and two black horns rising from his forehead. He wears a red and black military-style outfit suited to his role as Tempest's commander-in-chief, and carries a katana at his hip. Where the other kijin look approachable, Benimaru has the bearing of a born prince, straight-backed, watchful and ready to give orders at a moment's notice.

Personality

Benimaru is proud, disciplined and fiercely responsible. As the ogre prince he was raised to lead, and the destruction of his village turned that duty into a personal vow: never again will his people be helpless. He is calm in command, ruthless to enemies and completely loyal to Rimuru, who gave his survivors a future. Around family he softens, Shuna can tease him, and his rivalry-free devotion to Tempest sometimes leaves him hopeless in ordinary social situations.

Background & Story

Benimaru was the young master of the ogre village hidden in the Jura Forest, trained to succeed his father as its leader. When the Orc Lord's army, directed by hidden hands, destroyed the village, Benimaru led the six survivors out, and nearly attacked Rimuru after mistaking the slime for an enemy's servant. Once the misunderstanding cleared, the ogres swore service to Rimuru, who named them all. Naming evolved Benimaru into a kijin with far greater power, and he took command of Tempest's growing military, carrying his lost village's memory into every campaign.

Powers & Abilities

• Black Flame and Hell Flare: Benimaru commands powerful black fire magic, including the devastating Hell Flare sphere that can incinerate an army.
• Master swordsmanship: Trained by Hakurou, he is one of Tempest's finest swordsmen, fighting with a katana at the front of his armies.
• Commander skills: As Tempest's commander-in-chief he directs large battles, boosted by leadership skills that strengthen the troops under him.

Key Relationships

• Shuna: His younger sister, the ogre princess who runs Tempest's weaving, cooking and much of its diplomacy.
• Rimuru Tempest: The lord he swore to serve after Rimuru sheltered the ogre survivors and gave them names.
• Hakurou: The elderly sword master who trained Benimaru since childhood.
• Shion: His fellow kijin and Tempest's other front-line commander, whose recklessness he must constantly balance.
