Shalltear Bloodfallen

About Shalltear Bloodfallen

Shalltear is the vampire guardian of Nazarick's first three floors, a petite True Ancestor in crimson armour with power rivalling any guardian. Arrogant and bloodthirsty in battle, she is lovesick and easily flustered around Ainz, and her rivalry with Albedo is constant. Her duel with Ainz is the first real fight the tomb's ruler ever faces.

Appearance

Shalltear looks like a delicate girl of about fourteen with silver hair, crimson eyes and porcelain skin, usually in an elegant purple and black gown. In battle she wears ornate crimson full plate and carries the Spuit Lance, a huge divine-class weapon. Her true vampiric form is something else entirely, a monstrous, lamprey-mouthed horror that her pretty appearance, and her creator's tastes, carefully conceal.

Personality

Shalltear is arrogant, bloodthirsty and theatrically feminine, switching between refined lady and giggling predator mid-sentence. She adores Ainz with the same lovesick intensity as Albedo, and their rivalry is one of Nazarick's constants, Shalltear's weapon of choice is needling Albedo about her figure, and vice versa. In battle her playfulness curdles into cruelty, and her one great failure, falling under enemy control and fighting Ainz himself, leaves a shame she works obsessively to repay.

Background & Story

Shalltear was created by Peroroncino, one of Ainz's guildmates, as the guardian of Nazarick's first three floors, a True Ancestor vampire built, with her creator's usual enthusiasm, from a long list of personal tastes. In the New World she serves as one of the tomb's strongest warriors, patrolling its upper floors and venturing out on Ainz's missions. An encounter with the Slane Theocracy's Black Scripture leaves her mind-controlled, the crisis that forces Ainz into his first true battle and teaches Nazarick that this world's powers can wound even them.
