Ayame is a student at Eimei and a friend of Hina Chono, arriving in the story as its unofficial cupid. She watches Taiki and Hina's situation with a spectator's expertise and intervenes whenever the plot, as she sees it, needs a push. Her older sister Karen dates Haryu, giving Ayame a second front row seat. Through Ayame, Blue Box lets its romance breathe: someone in the story is allowed to treat all this longing as the entertainment it also is.
