About Gachiakuta

Gachiakuta is a TV anime animated by Bones Film, directed by Fumihiko Suganuma with series composition by Hiroshi Seko and music by Taku Iwasaki. Season 1 ran for 24 episodes on CBC and TBS in Japan, from 6 July to 21 December 2025, and Crunchyroll streams the series worldwide. It adapts the manga by Kei Urana, with graffiti design by Hideyoshi Andou, which runs in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine. The story follows Rudo Surebrec, an orphan from the slums of a floating city who is framed for murder and thrown into the Pit. Aoi Ichikawa voices Rudo, with Katsuyuki Konishi as Enjin, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Zanka Nijiku and Yumiri Hanamori as Riyo Reaper. Season 2 was announced on 21 December 2025, straight after the finale aired, and it is in production at Bones Film. A First Look PV built from finished Season 2 footage arrived on 29 July 2026. No broadcast date, season or year has been announced for it yet. In the US, the series also began a run on Toonami on 17 October 2026.

Story & Plot

High above the ground floats a city. In its slums lives Rudo, an orphan boy who picks through the trash of the rich for things worth saving, in a society that treats both rubbish and the poor as worthless.

Then Rudo is framed for a murder he did not commit. There is no fair trial waiting for him. He is thrown off the edge of the city, down into the Pit, a vast wasteland of garbage where trash beasts roam and the air itself can kill.

Rudo survives the fall, and the Cleaners find him. They are fighters who turn cherished objects into weapons and hunt the beasts of the Pit for a living. Taken in by them, Rudo starts learning their trade, with one goal burning underneath it all: get back up there, and clear his name.

Who Is It For?

Gachiakuta suits viewers who like rough, fast shonen action with a grudge at its centre. The setting does a lot of the work: a hero who fights with treasured junk, in a world built from what a floating city threw away. If you enjoy underdog stories where the hero starts with nothing, this one is easy to get into.
