Quick Answer

Aoashi Season 2 is the second season of the football anime adapted from Yugo Kobayashi's manga, animated by TMS Entertainment. It premiered on 4 October 2026 on NHK Educational TV and streams on Crunchyroll. Across 24 episodes in two cours, Ashito Aoi joins Tokyo City Esperion's A team and faces the youth Premier League.

About Aoashi Season 2

Ashito Aoi is a talented but selfish young footballer from a small town in Ehime who gets scouted by Tatsuya Fukuda, youth director of Tokyo City Esperion, one of Japan's best academies. Season 1 turned him from a ball-hogging forward into a full-back learning to see the whole pitch. Season 2, which premiered on 4 October 2026 on NHK Educational TV with streaming on Crunchyroll, promotes him to Esperion's A team. That promotion is the whole story: the A team plays in the youth Premier League, against the best young players in the country, and its senior stars, playmaker Haruhisa Kuribayashi and defender Nagisa Akutsu, set a standard Ashito is nowhere near yet. The season runs 24 episodes across two cours, with the first cour covering his brutal education at the higher level. Production has changed hands: TMS Entertainment replaces Production I.G, and Kazuki Yokoyama directs, while series composer Masahiro Yokotani and composer Masaru Yokoyama return. The thinking football that made Season 1 a cult favourite among real football fans is very much intact.

Aoashi Season 2 is a TV anime from 2026, first released in Fall 2026. It belongs to the Sports and Drama genres and is listed as currently airing. The summary above is written by the AnimeYug team in our own words.

Story & Plot

Aoashi is a football story about vision. Ashito Aoi could always score goals, but Fukuda saw something rarer in him: the instinct to watch the whole field. Rebuilt as a full-back in Season 1, Ashito learned that the best players decide what to do before the ball arrives, and that his selfish streak was the only thing holding him back.

Season 2 begins at the 'Start Line', as the anime's first episode is titled: Ashito and several fellow first-years are promoted to the A team, where Esperion's best prospects play Premier League football. The gap is humiliating at first. The seniors are faster, stronger and, worst of all for Ashito, they think faster too. Kuribayashi, the academy's generational talent, shows him what true playmaking looks like, while Akutsu's defending shows him the physical standard the top level demands.

Across the season Ashito has to rebuild his game a second time, now against players his own age who are simply better than him, and find the one thing he can offer that even they cannot. It is a story about intelligence, humility and the long road from talent to professional.

Why Watch Aoashi Season 2

  • Football with real tactics: positioning, vision and decision-making matter more than super-shots.
  • The A team step-up is honestly brutal. Ashito starts Season 2 out of his depth and has to earn everything again.
  • Kuribayashi and Akutsu set a believable 'next level' for the first-years to chase.
  • 10-FEET's opening "Fortress Defense" and Ai Higuchi's ending give the season a driving rock sound.
  • The source manga is complete at 40 volumes, so the story being adapted has a real ending.

Who Is It For?

Aimed at teens and adults, and especially rewarding for real football fans, coaches and players praise its accuracy about youth development. There is no fan service or graphic content; the drama is all on the pitch and in the dressing room.
