Eisaku Otomo

About Eisaku Otomo

Eisaku Otomo is Ashito's roommate at Esperion and the comic heart of the first-year group, a cheerful midfielder whose mood lifts the whole dorm. What he lacks in polish he makes up in work rate and nerve, and his friendship gives Ashito an anchor in the academy's pressure cooker. Otomo's own dream of turning professional burns as hot as anyone's, he just refuses to stop smiling about it.

Appearance

Otomo is a compact, energetic midfielder with an open, grinning face and a spring in his step that matches his personality, he is rarely still, on the pitch or in the dorm. In Esperion's kit he plays with his sleeves metaphorically rolled up: chasing, pressing, bouncing back up after every knock. His whole look is approachability, the teammate strangers talk to first.

Personality

Otomo is the emotional sunshine of Esperion's first-year group. He jokes under pressure, celebrates other people's successes like his own and keeps the dorm's mood alive through the academy's grinding schedule. It would be easy to mistake him for comic relief, but Otomo's ambition is deadly serious: he knows he is not the most gifted player in his year, and his answer is effort, positioning and nerve. His friendship with Ashito is genuine loyalty, the roommate who tells him the truth, shares the homesickness, and refuses to let the pressure cooker crack either of them.

Background & Story

Otomo arrived at Esperion as one of its first-year intake and was placed in the dorm room with Ashito, becoming his first friend in Tokyo. Through the B team's season he fights for his place like everyone else, on work rate, versatility and a midfielder's willingness to do the unglamorous running. Among the first-years pushing towards promotion in Season 2, Otomo represents the academy's other kind of success story: not the genius, but the player whose attitude and effort make coaches keep finding a place for him.

Powers & Abilities

• Work Rate and Pressing: Otomo's engine is his weapon, he presses, covers and contests second balls for the full match, making Esperion's midfield harder to play through.
• Team-First Midfield Play: He keeps the ball moving simply and quickly, linking defence and attack without slowing the team's rhythm.

Key Relationships

• Ashito Aoi: His roommate and closest friend at Esperion, the anchor each provides the other in the academy's pressure.
• Soichiro Tachibana: His twin brother, opposite in temperament, identical in ambition.
• Kanpei Kuroda: A fellow first-year midfielder whose calm analysis balances Otomo's energy in the middle of the pitch.
