Shisui
Shisui is a cheerful rear-palace maid in The Apothecary Diaries who befriends Maomao over their shared love of insects and strange creatures. She is voiced by Asami Seto in Japanese and Suzie Yeung in English.
About Shisui
Shisui is a cheerful young maid in the rear palace who befriends Maomao over their shared love of strange creatures, especially insects, which she collects with gleeful enthusiasm. Quick, warm and a little too knowledgeable about the palace's hidden corners, she becomes one of Maomao's closest friends inside the walls. But Shisui's smile guards one of the series' biggest secrets about who she really is.
Appearance
Shisui is a bright-eyed young maid with her hair worn in playful loops, always looking slightly too delighted for palace service. She dresses as an ordinary servant but is usually mid-excitement about something, a rare bug, a strange plant, a new corridor to explore. Her energy makes her easy to underestimate, which suits her very well.
Personality
Shisui is warm, quick and endlessly curious, with an enthusiast's heart and a collector's eye. She is one of the only people who matches Maomao's weirdness hobby for hobby. But she is also a little too knowledgeable, a little too well-placed, and a little too calm in a crisis, hints that the cheerful maid is carrying a secret about who she really is.
Background & Story
Shisui works as a maid in the rear palace, where she bonds with Maomao over insects, odd creatures and the palace's hidden corners. She becomes one of Maomao's closest friends inside the walls, and, quietly, one of the threads connecting Maomao to the Shi clan's designs on the court. The story guards the truth of Shisui's identity carefully; what is clear from the start is that she knows far more about the palace, and about Maomao, than a simple maid should.
