Teacher
Teacher is a man reborn in a fantasy world as a sentient sword, and the co-lead of Reincarnated as a Sword. Listed as Master in Japanese credits, he is carried by the young Black Cat adventurer Fran, and he guides her as both her weapon and her mentor. He is voiced by Shinichiro Miki in Japanese and by Ty Mahany in the English dub.
About Teacher
Teacher is a man who was reborn in a fantasy world as a sentient sword, and one of the two leads of Reincarnated as a Sword. The Black Cat adventurer Fran wields him, and he serves as her partner and mentor as the two travel together. He is voiced by Shinichiro Miki in Japanese and Ty Mahany in English.
Appearance
Teacher has no body of his own. He is a large, ornate sword, with a pale blade marked by glowing blue lines, a gold crossguard shaped around a wolf like head, and a wrapped grip set with blue stones. In battle he is seen in Fran's hands, and outside it he can move and speak on his own, which tends to surprise anyone meeting the pair for the first time.
Personality
Teacher is calm, thoughtful and protective. He thinks like the adult he was before his rebirth, so he plans, worries and looks ahead in a way Fran often does not. Teaching comes naturally to him. He explains the world to Fran, helps her train, and does everything a sword can do to keep her safe, which turns out to be more than you would expect.
Background & Story
Teacher was once a man in our world. After his death he woke in a fantasy world as a sentient sword, with a mind, a voice and the power to move, but no body. His second life found its direction when Fran, a young Black Cat adventurer, took him up. As his wielder she gave him a partner, and he became her mentor in return. Season 2 continues their travels together, with the Seedrun Arc carrying the pair through episodes 6 to 12.
Powers & Abilities
- A sentient weapon: Teacher can think, speak and move by himself, even without a wielder. That makes him a partner in battle rather than a tool, and he can react and adjust during a fight.
- Fran's blade in battle: In Fran's hands, Teacher is the weapon she fights with. Their teamwork, her skill and his guidance together, is what carries the pair through dangerous fights.
- A mentor's knowledge: Teacher teaches as he fights. He shares what he knows with Fran, helps her judge opponents and situations, and guides her growth as an adventurer.
Key Relationships
- Fran: His wielder and partner. Fran carries Teacher into every fight, and he guides and protects her in return. Their partnership is the heart of the series.
- Jean du Vix: One of the key people Teacher and Fran cross paths with during their travels in Season 2.
- Lich: One of the notable figures in the pair's path in Season 2, voiced by Sho Hayami.
