Dimple

Dimple

From Mob Psycho 100

Quick Answer

Dimple is a main character of Mob Psycho 100, an evil spirit who once ran a cult as a living god, was crushed by Mob, and now floats around as a small green sidekick scheming to borrow Mob's power while slowly becoming his friend. He is voiced by Akio Otsuka in Japanese and Michael Sorich in English.

About Dimple

Dimple, Ekubo in Japanese, is a wisecracking evil spirit who once led the LOL cult as a self-declared god. After Mob crushes him, he shrinks into a floating green blob with rosy cheeks and moves into Mob's life as an unwanted adviser, scheming to borrow Mob's body and power. Over time his greed softens into something like real friendship, and he risks everything for Mob.

Appearance

In his reduced form Dimple is a small floating green spirit with a round body, rosy spiral cheeks, thin arms and an expressive, smirking mouth. He can possess human bodies, most notably borrowing corpses or hosts, and at full power he could take a hulking, muscular humanoid shape with the same green glow and cheek spirals. His design stays deliberately cartoonish against the series' more terrifying spirits, matching his role as comic relief with teeth.

Personality

Dimple is sarcastic, greedy and completely unembarrassed about his ambitions, he narrates his own schemes out loud. He is also a coward in exactly the way that keeps him alive for centuries, and a surprisingly sharp judge of people. His arc is one of the series' best jokes turning serious: the would-be god who wanted worship ends up valuing one awkward teenager's trust more than power, though he would rather die, again, than phrase it that warmly.

Background & Story

Dimple was once the powerful spirit behind the (LOL) religious cult, worshipped as a god by hundreds of followers whose faith fed his strength. Mob destroyed that power in minutes, reducing him to a wisp, and Dimple, with nowhere else to go, attached himself to the boy, posing as an adviser while openly planning to steal Mob's body and power someday. Living alongside Mob's family, sharing his battles and his meals-that-aren't, the scheming slowly changes character: when the chips are down against threats like Mogami or the Divine Tree, Dimple repeatedly risks his existence for the kid he meant to use.

Powers & Abilities

  • Possession: Dimple can enter and control human bodies, which also lets him lend a host his spiritual strength and protect them from the inside.
  • Spirit Power (former): At his cult's peak he was a genuinely powerful evil spirit; even reduced, he can fight weaker spirits, form barriers and sense spiritual presences others miss.

Key Relationships

  • Shigeo Kageyama: The boy who destroyed him and the host he hopes to possess someday, and, inconveniently, the person he most wants to protect.
  • Arataka Reigen: A fellow fraud; the two recognise each other's act instantly and trade insults like old professionals.
  • Ritsu Kageyama: Mob's brother, whom Dimple possesses for a time and pesters constantly, the closest thing Dimple has to a second host and sparring partner.
  • Tome Kurata: One of the few ordinary humans who can see him, sharing his enthusiasm for the supernatural from the other side of the believer divide.

Quick Answers
