About Code Geass: Star Chaser Aspal

Code Geass: Star Chaser Aspal is the newest anime in the Code Geass franchise, and the first one built around a completely new setting and cast. The story takes place in 606 D.E. (Divine Era), where the people of the Roman Empire are suffering under Emperor Phokas and his endless wars. In the capital, Neapolis, an enslaved boy named Aspal lives with no memory of his past. His life changes when he meets Zoe, a mysterious woman who lives only as a severed head. The project was first announced in December 2025 as part of the Code Geass 20th anniversary, and a 2027 debut was confirmed in September 2026 with a teaser trailer. On 5 November 2026 the team revealed the main visual, the full synopsis, the lead cast and more of the staff. Kazuya Nomura directs, Mado Nozaki handles series composition, Rolua designed the characters, and Taro Iwashiro composes the music. The original story comes from Ichiro Okouchi and Goro Taniguchi, the creators of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, and SUNRISE handles the animation. Ivan Shibata voices Aspal and Hibiku Yamamura voices Zoe. The release plan is unusual: advance preview screenings run in January 2027, ahead of event screenings later in 2027.

Code Geass: Star Chaser Aspal is a TV anime from 2027. It belongs to the Sci-Fi and Action and Drama genres. The summary above is written by the AnimeYug team in our own words.

Story & Plot

The year is 606 D.E., the Divine Era. Life in the Roman Empire is hard. Emperor Phokas rules with an iron hand, and his wars against neighbouring countries never seem to end. Ordinary people pay the price.

In Neapolis, the capital, a boy named Aspal lives as a slave. He has no memory of his past, no idea where he came from or who he really is. Then, one day, he meets Zoe. She is not like anyone he has ever seen: she is a woman who lives only as a severed head, and she is wrapped in mystery.

That meeting is where this new story begins. What Aspal and Zoe are to each other, what the Agalmata are, and how their meeting will shake the empire has not been revealed yet. Sunrise is keeping those answers for the screenings.
