Bass X Machina is a six episode animated limited series on Netflix, created by LeSean Thomas and animated by Studio Mir. It reimagines the real lawman Bass Reeves in a steampunk West, and all six episodes arrive on Tuesday 3 November 2026. A quick honesty note: it is an American animated series in an anime-inspired style, not a Japanese production, and AnimeYug lists it as a Netflix animated series.
About Bass X Machina
Bass X Machina is an American animated series made for Netflix, created by LeSean Thomas, the maker of Yasuke and Cannon Busters, and animated by Studio Mir, the South Korean studio behind The Legend of Korra and X-Men '97. It takes the real Bass Reeves, the formerly enslaved man who became one of the most feared deputy U.S. marshals in the Old West, and drops him into a lawless steampunk frontier overrun by brutal outlaws, war machines and supernatural terrors. To protect his family, Bass is forced to become judge, jury and executioner, knowing every act of justice could cost him the people he is fighting for. Brian Tyree Henry leads the voice cast as Bass, with Janelle Monáe, Tati Gabrielle and Cree Summer alongside him. The complete limited series runs to six episodes, all released at once on 3 November 2026, and it is made for adults, with a hard edge to match its frontier setting.
Bass X Machina is a ONA anime from 2026, first released in Fall 2026. It belongs to the Action and Sci-Fi and Supernatural genres and is listed as a completed series. The summary above is written by the AnimeYug team in our own words.

Story & Plot
In a steampunk version of the American West, the frontier has gone to pieces. Outlaw gangs ride with machine muscle behind them, strange terrors stalk the territory, and a rogue scientist threatens to reignite the Civil War. Standing in the middle of it is Bass, a lawman and father with a mechanical arm and a marshal's nerve, trying to hold his family together in a place that punishes mercy.
Every episode pushes the same hard bargain: the more justice Bass hands out to keep his family safe, the more danger he draws back to his own door. It is a complete six episode story, told in one run with no weekly wait.
