About Misa Amane
Misa Amane is a famous model and actress who receives her own Death Note and becomes the second Kira. A Shinigami named Rem gave her the notebook, and Misa traded half her remaining life for Shinigami eyes that reveal any person's name. Devoted to Kira for punishing her parents' killer, she adores Light completely and cheerfully does things he would never risk doing himself.
Appearance
Misa is a petite young woman with long blonde hair, often worn in pigtails or loose waves, and a bold gothic style, black lace, crosses, chokers and dark dresses mixed with idol-fashion touches. On stage and on magazine covers she is all smiles and energy, calling herself 'Misa-Misa' in the third person, which makes the black notebook she carries all the more jarring.
Personality
Misa is bright, impulsive and completely all-or-nothing in her feelings. She is cheerful and friendly on the surface but thinks nothing of killing for Kira, whom she worships for executing the man who murdered her parents. Her devotion to Light is total and unquestioning, she offers him her eyes, her notebook and her life without hesitation, and that mix of innocence and ruthlessness makes her the most unpredictable player in the Kira game.
Background & Story
Misa Amane built a career as a model and rising actress after the worst event of her life: her parents were murdered, and their killer was later killed by Kira, which made her a devoted Kira worshipper. The Shinigami Rem, carrying the notebook of a Shinigami who had died to save Misa, gave that Death Note to her. Misa traded half her remaining lifespan for Shinigami Eyes, which let her see anyone's real name, and used them to track Kira down. Arriving in Tokyo as the second Kira, she finds Light Yagami, and pledges herself to him completely.
Powers & Abilities
- The Death Note: Misa's own notebook, given to her by Rem, kills anyone whose name she writes in it while picturing their face.
- Shinigami Eyes: Bought for half her remaining lifespan, the eyes let Misa see every person's real name and remaining lifespan floating above their head, the one thing Light cannot do.
Key Relationships
- Light Yagami: The first Kira and the love of her life; she serves him loyally and would do anything he asks, though his feelings are far colder than hers.
- Rem: The Shinigami who gave Misa her notebook and stays to protect her, caring for Misa in a way Shinigami almost never do.
- L Lawliet: The detective who suspects Misa of being the second Kira, and finds her cheerful devotion to Light both useful and alarming.
- Ryuk: Light's Shinigami, whom Misa meets with delight; the two gods of death around the couple could not be more different in temperament.
